No tools, no removal of the housing. A clean step-by-step with the one surface-prep tip that doubles the bond life.
The cheapest, fastest, no-tools wing mirror repair you can do. As long as your backing plate is intact, this is genuinely a five-minute job.
What you need
- A dry microfibre cloth
- A bottle of isopropyl alcohol (the cheapest electronics-grade is fine)
- The replacement self-adhesive glass
The procedure
- If the old glass is still attached, peel it off — start at the bottom corner with a fingernail
- Wipe the backing plate clean with the microfibre + a drop of IPA. Allow 60 seconds to evaporate.
- Peel the backing strip off the new glass
- Align the top edge first, then roll the glass down onto the plate, pressing firmly
- Press around the edge for 30 seconds to seat the foam
Don't drive at speed for the first 4 hours. The pressure-sensitive adhesive achieves 80% bond in the first hour but reaches full strength only after a day at ambient temperatures.
